Munich, Feb 8, IRNA -- European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini emphasized the 'historic opportunity' for a nuclear agreement with Iran.
Addressing the 51st Munich Security Conference in the south German city on Sunday, Mogherini said, 'Now we have a historic opprtunity for the first time and we have a real chance to resolve one of the world's lasting problems.'
'And we are now in a critical phase of intensive work towards a comprehensive solution that both recognizes Iran's right to peaceful nuclear energy and and gives the necessary insurance that the program will be exclusively peaceful. But not much time is left,' she added.
Mogherini reiterated the need for a 'political will' to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue.
'This is the time to show strong political will. We cannot miss this opportunity and the time for not missing this opportunity is now,' she said.
EU's top diplomat noted a comprehensive agreement with Iran would 'open up proespects for cooperation in many areas both bilateral and regional'.
