TEHRAN Feb 09(Shana)--The first domestically manufactured engine of tugboats was launched at Kharg Oil Terminal.
During a ceremony held on the occasion of launching the tugboat engine, managing-director of the Iran Oil Terminals Company (IOTC) Seyyed Pirouz Mousavi said deploying domestic capabilities is one of the top priorities of the company in the long term which will make purchasing foreign made equipment unnecessary.
"We are hoping to be able to manufacture all our necessary equipment at home at the end of next Iranian calendar year in March 2016", Mousavi said.
He said last year the company could save more than two million dollars by procuring its equipment from domestic market, saying the figure is expected to double this year.
The engine has been manufactured in Tabriz with 2,350 horsepower.
Meanwhile upgrading facilities at Kharg Oil Terminal including has raised the terminal's export capacity by 70 thousand barrels per day.
The upgrading plan implemented in a one-year period costing 62 billion IR rials.
NOTCs top executive said by launching new facilities, the company is no longer to pay for delay in docking of oil tankers and loading oil.
