TEHRAN (Tasnim) An Iranian lawmaker said that the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UNSC members plus Germany) should be carried out in a single stage.
Whether the Americans cannot make decision in one stage or need to make decision based on the ideas of Saudi foreign minister or a number of Zionists, is their own problem, Mansour Haqiqatpour, a member of the Iranian Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said on Monday.
Lifting all sanctions against Iran should be discussed in the nuclear talks. Postponing the removal of sanctions to the next stage of the talks means procrastinating the major problem and this is not in the interest of the Iranian nation, said the Iranian lawmaker.
A positive strategic agreement is an agreement that is made according to the demands and interests of our country; otherwise, any deal would hinder the countrys growing trend of development, Haqiqatpour stressed.
He also said the final deal should be written in a way that prevents Americans from evading their commitments and interpreting the agreement in their own interests.
His comments come as Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei affirmed on Sunday that any nuclear deal between Iran and world powers should be implementable, stressing that "no deal will be better than a bad one," including a two-stage agreement.
Ayatollah Khamenei expressed opposition to the idea of a two-phased nuclear deal, which entails consensus on the generalities at first and requires agreement on details at a later time.
Such a deal is not acceptable, because our experience of the opposite sides behavior shows that mere agreement on the generalities will become a tool for making successive excuses over details.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehrans nuclear energy program.
