
Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright became the latest Democratic voice today to take issue with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus upcoming address to Congress. Netanyahu was invited by Speaker John Boehnerwithout consultation of the White House, and several Democrats have indicated theyre boycotting the speech as a result.
Netanyahu has repeatedly insisted his speech is more important that some political fighting over protocol, and assured that hes not speaking because he wants a confrontation with President Obama.
But as far as Albrights concerned, he is interfering in our internal affairs. She explained to Andrea Mitchell, I dont want to interfere in Israeli internal affairs. But it strikes me that theres an awful lot going on in his neighborhood, in the Middle East, and thats where he should be.
