Athens, Feb 14, IRNA - Greek Minister of Administrative Reform George Katrougalos said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a powerful country in the region and Athens calls for expansion of all out relations with the country.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA, he said Athens is to broaden relations with other countries within European Union principles and the country attaches importance to Iran due to the deeply rooted friendly relations between the two nations.
Both Iran and Greece with glorious civilizations can play a significant role in establishing peace and tranquility in the region and the world, he said.
Iran with its huge oil, gas and other underground reserves, advanced industries and a population of about 80 million can play a leading role in regional and global developments, he said.
Expansion of economic cooperation and investment opportunities can bring more comfort and welfare for both sides, he said.
Greece is now gripped by financial problems and is to expand economic cooperation with other countries such as the Islamic Republic of Iran to attain economic development, he said.
