TEHRAN (ISNA)- An Iranian informed source rejected Arab media reports that 30 Iranian officers and soldiers were taken captive by IS in Daraa province, southwestern Syria.
The report is not true, the source told ISNA.
Some Arab media claimed that the IS had taken 30 Iranians captive in Daraa Province, while some other media had said that a number of Kurdish Peshmerga forces were taken captive in Kirkuk City, northern Iraq.
Some media reports has already claimed that an Iranian has been taken hostage by the IS and was swapped in return for a number of IS terrorists taken captive by Syrian Army. Iranian Embassy in Syria had rejected the report as baseless.
Iranian officials have always stressed that the country does not have military presence in Syria and has only sent military advisors to the country.
