TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Ambassador to the Philippines Ali Asqar Mohammadi said Iran is among the pioneering states in condemning all forms of violence and extremism worldwide, and its anti-terrorism efforts in regional and international arenas testify to the claim.

Addressing a group of high-ranking officials of the Philippines and heads of diplomatic missions in Manila in a ceremony marking the 36th anniversary of victory of Iran's Islamic Revolution in 1979, Mohammadi said holding the first international conference on 'World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)' in Tehran showed that Iran is the flag-bearer of struggling against terrorism in the region.

The Philippines' former President Fidel Ramos, former parliament speaker, two of Philippines deputy foreign ministers, some members of parliament, head of Chamber of Commerce, and heads of private companies were among the guests of the ceremony.

The two-day WAVE conference was held in Tehran in December.

Participants in WAVE conference in their final statement asked the world governments, politicians and religious leaders to condemn terrorism, violence and extremism in all forms.

The conference came in the aftermath of a last year proposal by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani during his address to the UN General Assembly meeting in New York on September 25, 2013, which received the approval of the UNGA after being endorsed by an overwhelming majority of the member states on December 18, 2013.
