Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tuesday that Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to influence negotiations over Iran's nuclear program with his address to both chambers of Congress.

"He's trying to, and I don't think trying to create tension and conflict helps anyone," Zarif said to reporters outside talks in Switzerland with Secretary of State John Kerry.

The aim of the negotiations is to persuade Iran to restrain its nuclear program in exchange for relief from sanctions that have crippled the oil exporter's economy.

Netanyahu, in a controversial address to Congress in Washington, said the deal proposed "paves Iran's path to the bomb."

"If the deal now being negotiated is accepted by Iran, that deal will not prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons it will all but guarantee that Iran will get those nuclear weapons, lots of them," he said.
