This file photo shows thick smoke rising following an airstrike by the US-led coalition in the town of Kobani in Syria. AP[/caption]About 30 people have been killed in airstrikes by US-led coalition targeting a Syrian oil refinery held by the ISIL Takfiri militants.
According to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the air raids that were carried late Sunday night hit the refinery near the Turkish-Syrian border outside the town of Tel Abyad.
The UK-based group added that the dead includedrefinery workers and ISIL terrorists.
Syrian activists also posted a video that purportedly shows the strikes, depicting a huge fireball.
Since late September 2014, the US and some of its Arab allies have been conducting airstrikes against the ISIL inside Syria without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate.
The US-led coalitions airstrikes have also hit Syrian infrastructure. The coalition has also attacked the provinces where the ISIL militants are not active.
Washington and its allieshave been staunch supporters of the Takfiri terrorists fighting against the Syrian government since March 2011.
The ISIL terror group currently controls parts of Iraq and Syria.
Last November theUNsaid the extremist militants made between USD 846,000 andUSD 1.6 million a day fromselling oil.
