Rome, March 12, IRNA Minister of Culture Ali Jannati and Italian Minister of Education Stefania Giannini, in a meeting in the Italian capital on Thursday reviewed scientific and research cooperation between Tehran and Rome.

Jannati arrived in Rome earlier in the day at the head of a delegation for a three-day visit.

During the meeting, the Italian minister welcomed the expansion of cooperation with Iran. Giannini particularly voiced Rome's readiness to further promote teaching Persian language in Italian universities.

The Iranian culture minister, for his part, referred to Italy's experiences in historical excavations and called on the Italian side to prepare the ground for admission of Iranian students in Italian universities to study in archeology and other human sciences.

During his stay in Italy, Jannati and his Italian counterpart Dario Franceschini are scheduled to meet and sign an MoU on cultural cooperation.

He is also due to hold separate talks with Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni, Parliament Speaker Laura Boldrini and Vatican's Culture Minister Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi.

Jannati has plans to deliver speech for Italian elite and cultural and scientific figures of the country, have a press conference and have an interview with Italy's state-run TV channel.

He is also to attend in the opening ceremony of Iran's Movie Week in Italy.
