Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani[/caption]TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said the measure by a group of US Republican senators to send a letter to Iran in defiance of a possible comprehensive agreement on Tehrans nuclear program was imprudent.
"What the US Senate did (sending the letter) was naive," Larijani told reporters at a press conference in Tehran on Monday.
A group of 47 Republican senators wrote an open letter to the Iranian government on March 9, warning that any nuclear deal Iran signs with US President Barack Obama's administration wont last after Obama leaves office.
Larijani said the move has drawn criticism even from US politicians because it "has practically tainted the power" of US in the international arena.
He further urged that a possible nuclear deal should be formulated in such a way that a change of governments (that sign it) would not undermine the agreement.
In relevant comments on Thursday, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said the letter reveals the "collapse of US political ethics."
Obama has also said he was "embarrassed" for the senators who sent the letter to Iranian leaders.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehrans peaceful nuclear program.
