Obama signs law against Iran Latin America influence
President Barack Obama enacted a law to counter Iran's alleged influence in Latin America, through a new diplomatic and political strategy to be designed by the State Department.The Countering Iran in the Western Hemisphere Act, passed by lawmakers earlier this year, calls for the State Department to develop a strategy within 180 days to "address Iran's growing hostile presence and activity" in the region.


Iran aims misinformation campaign on Patriots: FM
Turkish foreign minister accuses Iranian officials of launching a misinformation campaign on Turkish public over deployment of Patriots on Turkish soil. Ankara warned Tehran over the issue, Davuto?lu also saysIranian officials might have aimed to launch a campaign of misinformation among the Turkish public by abusing the issue of Patriot deployment in Turkish territory, Foreign MinisterAhmet Davuto?lusaid in a televised interview Dec. 28.



Iran rejects reports of blocking Strait of Hormuz during naval drills
The spokesman for the Iranian NavysVelayat 91specialized naval exercise has rejected Western media reports about Irans plans to block the Strait of Hormuz during the maneuver.


 
Iran: Terrorists not allowed to attend Syrian Dialogues
As he was elaborating Iran's peace plan for Syria, Iranian ambassador to Lebanon said Friday that those who have killed innocent Syrian civilians are not allowed attending any of meeting negotiating future of Syria.According to IRNA, Ambassador Ghadanfar Roknabadi made the comment in a meeting with the Roman Orthodox Archbishop of Beirut, Priest Elias Odeh, while congratulating the auspicious birth anniversary of Jesus Christ (P) and the beginning of the Christian New Year.



Iranian cargo ship sinks off UAE, crew rescued
An Iranian cargo ship sank in United Arab Emirates waters due to rough weather. Its crew of six was airlifted to safety by a rescue helicopter, the Gulf News newspaper reported Saturday.The Al-Jasourah went down Friday some 10 nautical miles off the coast of the northern emirate of Umm Al-Quwain soon after it had left the neighbouring emirate of Sharjah, said Gulf News.
