Iranian FM appreciates Oman
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif thanked Oman for its special role in the recent nuclear talks between Tehran and the world powers, and underlined his country's willingness to develop all-out cooperation with Masqat.

"The recent round of nuclear negotiations started with Oman's special role and efforts and we hope that they will end in results through the political will of all sides," Zarif told reporters upon arrival in Masqat on Wednesday.

Asked about the possibility of choosing Masqat as the venue for the next round of talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) again (similar to the 9th round of the talks in November), he said Tehran welcomes Masqat's hosting of the nuclear talks but no decision has been made in this regard yet.

Elaborating on the goals of his visit to Oman, Zarif said, "I was willing to use the existing opportunity to pursue the (development of) bilateral relations, the latest nuclear developments, and the regional issues, specially in Yemen."

"We are ready to have any type of cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman," he underscored.

In recent months, Iran and Oman have on different occasions stressed that the only way out of the current political crisis in Yemen is participation of involved parties in national dialogue to restore tranquility to the country as soon as possible.

In a meeting between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi in Masqat in March, the two sides voiced readiness to do their best for the peaceful settlement of security crisis in the Muslim country of Yemen.

Continued consultation among political sides in Yemen will help settle the problems," Amir Abdollahian said in the meeting.

The Iranian diplomat stressed fighting extremism and terrorism and keeping unity in the region, and lauded Ansarullahs fight against al-Qaeda and the ISIL in Yemen.

Bin Alawi, for his part, said, Oman has quite stable and transparent relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and believes that boosting bilateral ties between Iran and Oman serves the two countries' interests, and the entire region.

He further called for participation of Yemeni political groups and parties in national dialogues, and said any extremist behavior would damage the interests of all sides.
