Oil minister arrives in Beijing for talks on energy

Beijing, April 9, IRNA Iran's Minister of Oil Bijan Namdar Zangeneh arrived in the Chinese capital on Thursday heading a delegation to discuss energy issues with senior Chinese officials.

While in Beijing, the Iranian minister is to review investment opportunities in Iran and underline the need for further broadening energy cooperation between Iran and China.

The visit comes after Chinese companies voiced readiness for more active presence in Iran's oil and energy sectors.

Meeting with the Chinese energy minister tops the agenda of Zangeneh's visit to Beijing. The meeting is reportedly to be held in coming hours.

Statistics suggest that Tehran-Beijing ties have grown significantly in recent years in a way that bilateral trade between the two capitals amounted to more than $51 billion in 2014.

China has currently turned into Iran's main trade partner in Asia and is one of the biggest trade partners of Tehran in the world.
