Riyadh bombs Sana’a, Sa’ada in 2nd phase of aggression

Saudi fighter jets have pounded areas in the Yemeni provinces of Sana’a and Sa’ada as Riyadh launches the second phase of its deadly aggression against Yemen.

Saudi Arabia’s warplanes bombarded the area of al-Dhali Hamadan in the northern part of the capital, Sana’a, with the start of the new phase of the Saudi aggression dubbed "Restoring Hope" on Wednesday, according to the Arabic-language al-Masirah satellite television network.

In the same vein, the area of al-Qamar in the northwestern Yemeni province of Sa’ada came under the Saudi aggression.

Local witnesses also reported heavy clashes between Ansrarullah fighters and al-Qaeda militants in the al-Mualla district of the southern Yemeni city of Aden.

Clashes are reportedly underway between the Ansarullah fighters and al-Qaeda militants in the southern city of Taiz.

Saudi Arabia has “ended Operation Decisive Storm based on a request by the Yemeni government” and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, said Saudi government spokesman Brigadier General Ahmed al-Assiri in a televised broadcast on Tuesday.

He added that the Saudi naval blockade on Yemen would stay in place and the Saudi forces would continue targeting the Ansarullah movement's Houthi fighters.

Saudi Arabia started its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 -- without a UN mandate -- in a bid to restore power to Hadi, who is a close ally of Riyadh.

According to reports, about 2,800 people have been killed during the aggression.
