Russian Deputy FM calls Iran, P5+1 talks 'constructive'

Moscow, April 25, IRNA - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called Iran, P5+1 talks in Vienna 'constructive and fruitful'.

The issue of sanctions relief was a key issue at the Vienna talks of P5+1 and Iran on Tehran's nuclear program, Ryabkov told reporters on Friday.

According to Ryabkov, no progress had been reached yet on weapons embargo due to disagreements between the sides.

'Talks were rather fruitful Mainly we discussed the issue of sanctions. Our P5+1 colleagues held constructive discussions. But we have not yet agreed on the timing and volume of sanctions relief. We are working on it,' the Russian official was quoted.

Representatives of Iran and the P5+1 group held intensive talks in the Austrian capital on Friday.

The talks in Vienna aimed at drafting the text of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) according to the parameters set through a mutual understanding reached in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2.

In the morning, Iran's deputy foreign ministers Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht-e Ravanchi met with their Russian and Chinese counterparts.

At the same time, experts from negotiating parties held a concurrent meeting. The expert meeting was focused on the mechanism for removal of anti-Iran sanction.

Later in the afternoon, Iranian deputy foreign ministers sat for negotiations with representatives of three European countries, France, Germany and the UK followed by another meeting with the US Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman and EU political director, Helga Schmid.

The new round of the talks between representatives of Iran and the P5+1 - the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain, and Germany lasted three days with the aim of drafting a nuclear accord.

The talks are expected to resume on the sidelines of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty review conference in New York on April 27.
