Berlin, April 28, IRNA - German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has expressed interest in visiting Iran, the weekly SPIEGEL news magazine reported.
Talking to the Hamburg-based paper, Steinmeier said he hopes to be able to visit Iran 'soon'.
Pointing to last week's visit to Tehran by his deputy minister Markus Ederer, Germany's chief diplomat said his side has been in close contact with Tehran on the issue.
Steinmeier also stressed his deep interest in getting to know Iran. 'I am very much interested in the country,' he reiterated.
Expressing optimism that a final comprehensive nuclear agreement with Iran
could be reached by the June 30 deadline, the minister said such a deal could also pave the ground for a new horizon in German-Iranian relations.
