Abadan, May 4, IRNA Iran exported six billion dollars goods to Iraq annually, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Davoud Keshavarzian said on Monday.
Davoud Keshavarzian told a ground breaking ceremony for a new border terminal in Shalamche that in the past Iranian year (1393) more than three million tons goods worth more than six billion dollars were exported to Iraq through border points.
He added that number of pilgrims who passed via Shalamche border point during past year was 1,200,000 persons. Three western provinces of Iran have common borders with Iraq.
Deputy Governor General of Khuzestan Province Qodratollah Dehqan said that capacities of Shalamche infrastructure for exporting goods are high and that Shalamche by having railways, airport (Abadan airport) and road networks has possibility to turn to an export pole for Iraq.
Cement, house appliances, construction materials and fresh fruits and vegetables make up for the exports from Iran to Iraq.
