Tehran, May 4, IRNA Head of Iran Fisheries Organization Hassan Salehi says based on studies conducted on natural resources of southern coasts of the Caspian Sea, there is possibility of culturing 350,000 to 400,000 tons of fish.
Minister of Agricultural Jihad quoted Salehi as saying that southern part of the Caspian Sea (Gilan Province) enjoys high potential for fish culture and said presently, 40,000 tons of fish are cultured in northern provinces of Iran and the figure will show a 10-fold increase when cage fish culture is taken into consideration.
