Tehran, May 5, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated the 28th Tehran International Book Fair here on Tuesday morning.
Prior to attending the opening ceremony, the President visited pavilions and different sectors of the exhibition.
Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati was accompanying the president during his tour of the fair.
The annual book event which enjoys an international prestige will be open to public visit as of tomorrow.
The 28th Tehran International Book Fair with the motto Reading, Conversing with the World will be held on May 6-16 at Imam Khomeini (RA) Prayer Ground in Tehran with the participation of 65 countries.
Works of over 2,800 foreign publishers are present in this year's exhibition.
Some 130 stands are being active in the major cultural event to represent a large number of publishers. Over 2,450 Iranian publishers are also participating in the fair.
Millions of people visit the fair each year, including thousands of university students, scholars and their families. The fair is currently the most significant cultural event in Iran.
A member of the planning council for the 28th Tehran International Book Fair said Monday that presence of foreign publishers in this edition of the book fair will be unprecedented.
