Tehran, May 17, IRNA Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan is slated to pay an official visit to Iraq starting on Monday.
The Iraqi defense ministry in a statement on Sunday announced that Brigadier Dehqan will discuss mutual cooperation in the defense areas with his Iraqi counterpart and other senior officials in Baghdad, the Arab-language al-Sumeriya news quoted an Iraqi defense ministry source as saying.
Last month, General Dehqan underscored that Tehran will adopt a firm stance against any group or party that attempts to disturb security in the region.
'Iran, with all its power, will stand against all Takfiri-Zionist streams that stir insecurity in the region,' Brigadier General Dehqan told reporters after meeting with his Syrian counterpart General Fahd al-Freij in Tehran on Wednesday.
'The Takfiri and Zionist grouplets are the main culprits behind the instability in the region and instability in the world in the future,' he said.
'They commit crimes and massacre people and the international bodies dont show any reaction,' the Iranian defense minister added.
Dehqan said Iran as an independent and powerful country is sensitive to the region's peace and stability and not shy to take any needed action to maintain calm and security.
