TEHRAN, May 22 (MNA) The parliament and domestic affairs commission of Irans Majlis drafted a bill to send it to a voting session.
After a month long examination and consulting with the Guardian Council and the speaker of Parliament, the Parliament and Domestic Affairs Commission finalized a draft to consider eachprovince as one constituencyfor the first time in the history of Parliament elections in Iran. Currently, each city or every two or three small towns form a constituency with their own MPs.
A likewise plan was drafted during the seventh Parliamentbut it was rejected by the Guardian Council as it opposed the Constitution. Meanwhile the new one seems to be devoid of those legal objections.
The new bill is of 12 articles and the last article refers to religious minorities chairs in Majlis which will have the former election form with no change.
