Report about Iran, N Korea nuclear cooperation false

On Thursday, Reuters reported that Iran and North Korea were engaged in behind-the-scenes attempts to work on a nuclear weapons program. However, an official source from the Iranian Embassy in France dismissed the claim, according to Iranian News Agency IRNA.

A source from the Iranian Embassy in France dismissed a false claim made earlier by Reuters that Iran and North Korea were working together to produce nuclear weapons, IRNA News Agency reported on Friday.

On Thursday, it was reported that a team of North Korean nuclear and ballistic missile experts visited a nuclear site near Tehran, where they apparently held talks with their Iranian counterparts regarding the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.

The news was reported by Reuters, citing the Paris-based dissident National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

The source from the Iranian Embassy said that the false reporting is related to the soon approaching deadline for Iran's nuclear program deal on June 30:

"It was quite predictable in advance that with approaching deadline for signing of an Iran-Sextet [P5+1 group] final nuclear agreement and increased chances for cracking a win-win deal with the West on Iran's peaceful nuclear program the broadcasting of such false and baseless news, too, will accelerate."
