Tehran, June 6, IRNA Head of Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is to continue its support for the countries of the region as it regards security of these states as its own.
Vellayati made the remarks in a meeting with UN Representative to Iraq Jan Kubish on Saturday.
At a time when terrorist groups are active near Iran's borders, the country never remains silent and continues its fight against terrorism, Velayati said.
Daesh Takfiri terrorist group is regarded as a global threat and does merely threaten the Middle East region alone, he said.
'We are aware of the motives of those backing Daesh Takfiri terrorist group,' he said adding that such support would lead to massacre of a large number of civilians.
As declared before, Iran would continue its support for Syria and Iraq, he said. Some western and Asian states have equipped and trained terrorist groups and send them to Syria, Iraq and Lebanon to massacre people and destroy infrastructures in order to carry out their plots to sow seeds of discords among Muslims, he said.
'We believe that these terrorist groups will one day turn against their sponsors' he said.
UN representative in Iraq, for his part said the danger of Daesh terrorist group is very serious.
He expressed satisfaction that Iran is determined to continue its fight against terrorist groups, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran plays a leading role in the campaign against terrorism.
Expressing regret over the current conditions in Iraq and Syria, he said unfortunately the situation in those countries is very complicated and there is no doubt that Iran's efforts to restore stability and security to both countries are of prime importance.
