Iran condemns new Boko Haram terrorist attacks in Nigeria

Iran has condemned the latest wave of massacres carried out by the Boko Haram Takfiri militants in Nigeria.

Irans Foreign Ministry SpokeswomanMarzieh Afkhamon Saturday offered the Islamic Republics sympathy to the bereaved families of victims of the brutal attacks and also the government of Nigeria.

Denouncing the spread of extremism and terrorism as a common threat to the world, she highlighted that all countries across the globe must make efforts to battle this inhumane phenomenon.

The Boko Haram militants have reportedly killed nearly 200 people in fresh attacks on homes and mosques across Nigeria over the past few days.

On July 1-2, the terrorist group killed at least 145 people and injured dozens others in the volatile state of Borno.

In a statement released on Friday, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari condemned the latest mass murders by Boko Haram as the most inhuman and barbaric.

These last desperate acts of fleeing agents of terrorism underscore the urgent need to bring to early fruition the efforts of the government to form a more effective international coalition against insurgency and terrorism in Nigeria and neighboring countries, the statement read.

Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for deadly shooting attacks and bombings in various regions of Nigeria over the past six years.

The militant group recently pledged allegiance to the Takfiri ISIL terroristgroup, which operates inside Iraq and Syria.

Boko Haram started its campaign of terror in Nigeria in 2009. The violence has spilled over into the neighboring countries. The militancy has claimed the lives of some 15,000 people over the past years.
