Tehran, July 9, The Iran Project Israel has waged proxy wars in the Muslim world for its own peace, a senior Iranian cleric said on Wednesday.
Having invited the Iranian nation as well as Muslims across the globe to take part in the World Quds Day rallies on Friday to vent their opposition to the Israeli regime, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani stressed that Israel has launched proxy wars in the Muslim world for its own peace.
Alavi-Gorgani also pointed to Aytollah Khomeinis statement that the Quds Day is the day of Islam, and said the day is, therefore, not exclusively for Palestinians but it belongs to the Muslims across the world.
In August 1979, the late founder of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Khomeini declared the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as the International Quds Day, calling on Muslims across the world to mark the annual occasion by holding street rallies.
Millions of people around the world take to the streets on the day in a show of support for the people of Palestine, demanding an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.
