An economic delegation representing Azerbaijan's public and private sectors will travel to Iran next week to discuss expansion of the two countries relations in various economic fields with Iranian officials.

According to Iran's Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pak-Ayeen, the delegation, which is to arrive in Tehran on August 3, will be headed by Azerbaijans Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev and will include members from both state-run and private sectors, Azerbaijan's Trend News Agency reported on Wednesday.

The Iranian envoy added that the visit will take place at the invitation of Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi.

Pak-Ayeen further noted that representatives of Azerbaijan's energy, transport, telecommunications, banking, and oil companies will accompany Mustafayev during his visit to Iran.

Before his interview, Iran's ambassador met with Mustafayev in Baku.

During the meeting, the Azerbaijani minister talked about a recent nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 countries in Vienna over Tehrans peaceful nuclear program, describing it as an important step toward regional stability and security

A statement released by Irans embassy to Baku also quoted Mustafayev as adding that Baku has never been involved in anti-Iran sanctions and has always backed its southern neighbors peaceful nuclear program.

He also stated that his visit to Tehran will be followed with the 10th session of the two countries joint economic committee during the second half of the current year.

Iran's ambassador, for his part, said Iran attaches special importance to countries that have stood by the Iranian nation during the unjust sanctions.

Presidents of the two countries have met several times over the past two years. Iran wants friendly ties with all regional countries and we hope that relations between Tehran and Baku will increase in this line, Pak-Ayeen added.

According to a report released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, Azerbaijan was the 12th importer of Iran's non-oil goods during the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2015,

During that period, Iran exported USD 435.34 million of non-oil goods to Azerbaijan and imported USD 22.22 million of non-oil goods from the country.
