Zarif to visit Islamabad on Thursday: Ambassador

Islamabad, Aug 12, IRNA Iran's Foreign Affairs Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, seeking expansion of bilateral ties between the neighboring nations, will travel to Pakistan this week to hold talks with Pakistani officials, says Iran's ambassador to Islamabad.

'The one-day visit by the Foreign Minister on Thursday this week, Aug. 13, will take place as part of Zarif's tour of the neighboring and regional countries,' Ali-Reza Haghighian told the Islamic Republic News Agency.
'Zarif will be received by his counterpart, Sartaj Aziz and he will also meet with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif,' Haghighian said.
'Promoting bilateral ties, the Islamic Republic nuclear agreement with the world powers, and regional developments will form the main themes of talks between Zarif and the Pakistani officials,' Iran's envoy said.
'Meeting with the Speaker of National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and the Senate Chairman, Reza Rabbani, are also on the Foreign Minister's itinerary.'
Zarif and his counterpart Sartaj Aziz will also participate in a joint press meeting, said Haghighian.
Thursday's visit is going to be Iran's top diplomat's third trip to Islamabad, since he took office as the Foreign Minister in President Hassan Rouhani's cabinet.
He toured Pakistan in December 2013 and April 2015.
