India determined to invest in Iran's railway, petchem projects

New Delhi, Aug 14, IRNA Indian Minister of Road Transport, Highways, and Shipping Nitin Gadkari said Friday that his country is fully resolved to make investments in Iran's railway, road, ports and petrochemical areas.

Gadkari, who was speaking during a meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that given the new atmosphere following the nuclear deal between Tehran and the world powers, India is mulling how to expand bilateral relations with Iran.

Gadkari expressed New Delhi's readiness to host Iran's minister of road and urban development, saying, 'We are awaiting Iran's proposals in road, railway, ports and petrochemical areas.'

The Iranian foreign minister referred to the recently reached nuclear agreement between Iran and the G5+1, and said the new atmosphere has created opportunities for regional countries to boost cooperation.

Zarif added that transit, North-South corridor, railway and road projects, as well as Chabahar Port, and oil and gas and petrochemical industries are main areas for cooperation between Iran and India.

He also said he will informl the Iranian minister of road and urban development about India's eagerness to participate in Iran's transit projects and downstream industries.
