Iran beaten by Poland at FIVB volleyball boys' U-19 World Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran lost to Poland 3-1 (20-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-15) in its opening match of the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U-19 World Championship on Saturday.

Outside-hitter couple Tomasz Fornal (18 points) and Bartosz Kwolek (14) led Poland.

Rasoul Aghchehli was Irans top scorer with 16 points.

Iran has been pitted against Poland, Chile, Chinese Taipei and Bulgaria in Pool C.

The Iranian team has won the title one time in 2007 and has finished in second place in 2009.

The 20 teams divided into four pools of five teams each will play round robin in the preliminary round to qualify the best 16. The top four teams will fight for the title while the fifth-placed teams in each pool will contest the 17th to 20th positions.

The FIVB U-19 World Championship got underway in Resistencia and Corrientes, Argentina from 14 to 23 August.
