Iran, Syria enjoy deep-rooted, strategic ties

TEHRAN, Aug. 18 (MNA) Iran Leader's adviser said Iran and Syria enjoy strategic relations being formed since the very beginning of the Islamic Revolution.

Head of Center for Strategic Research of Irans Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with Syria's Minister of Information Omran al-Zoubi who is in a visit to Tehran to participate in the 8th Summit of the Islamic Radio and Television Union (IRTVU).

Pointing to Iran and Syria's relations, Velayati underlined that their ties have not been evolved in recent years but since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution.

He said the government and people of Syria and especially President Bashar al-Assad have gone through difficult situations in past 5 years.

"Maybe no one ever believed the Syrian government and nation could resist against invasions imposed in the form of a small World War, with limited resources," Velayati highlighted.

The enemies of Syria say today that the military option is not useful in Syria, he said, referring to the UN Security Councils (UNSC) step towards Syria on Monday as It is not known that the UNSC step is good for Syria, adding that Syrias enemies are convinced that the military option didnt work and everybody is convinced that the political one leads for an outcome."

"Any solution without the consent of the Syrian government and people is not acceptable," Velayati reiterated.

Omran al-Zoubi, for his part, expressed satisfaction over the opportunity to meet Iran's Leader and ensured that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian people believe they have gained victories over battles against terrorists by means of blessed hands of Ayatollah Khamenei.

Since international relations are subject to change, al-Zoubi stressed that the Syrian-Iranian relations are not an alliance between two states, but they are brotherly and fraternal relations and nobody can separate brothers.

"Syrian government and nation have faith in deep-rooted and true relations between Iran and Syria which needs to be further expanded."

Omran al-Zoubi said the key to success of the Islamic Republic of Iran is protecting the spirit of the Revolution and maintaining the moral and ethical dimensions of Imam Khomeini (RA).

Hailing the big role of the Iranian support for Syria on the political and economic levels, Al-Zoubi stressed that the Iranian support played a big role in enhancing its steadfastness and potentials in facing the aggression.
