Bojnourd, North Khorassan Prov., Aug 30, IRNA A quake measuring 4.7 point on the Richter scale shook cities of Shirvan, Faruj and Esfarayen in North Khorassan Province at 19:05 hours local time (14:35 GMT) on Sunday.
Tehran University Geophysics Institute said quake was sensible 22 kms from Esfarayen, 37 kms from Shirvan and 44 kms from Faruj in North Khorassan Province.
The quake was so strong that was also felt in the provincial city of Bojnourd.
Iran experiences frequent earthquakes. In 2003, a magnitude-6.6 earthquake killed some 26,000 and flattened the historic city of Bam.
