Moscow, Sept 4, IRNA Sergey Kirienko, managing director of Russia's State Atomic Energy Corporation, Rosatom, announced here on Friday that construction of Bushehr Nuclear Plant's 2nd reactor has started and is proceeding as scheduled.
Speaking in an economic gathering titled the Eastern Economy, Kirienko said that presently the designing and location spotting of the 2nd reactor in Bushehr Nuclear Plant are being completed.
'We have a special plan for the purpose and presently all the preparations and preliminary steps of the job are progressing as scheduled and we are quite pleased with the process of the job and with the satisfactory cooperation of our (Iranian) partners,' he added.
Kirineko had a few months ago announced that the preparations for construction of the 2nd and 3rd reactors of the Bushehr Nuclear Plant will begin in the fall season of 2015.
In mid-fall season of 2014 Iran and Russia signed an agreement for continuation of cooperation in peaceful nuclear field, including construction of two new reactors capable of producing 1,000 megawatts of electricity.
