Majlis special committee seeking acceptable report on JCPOA

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA A senior Iranian lawmaker said on Thursday that a Majlis (Parliament) special committee which is in charge of reviewing the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JPOA) is trying to provide an acceptable report on the issue.

Majlis endeavors to review and analyze the JCPOA inviting both the past and present members of the nuclear negotiation teams, Majlis First Vice-Speaker Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabifard told reporters here.

He said the special committee will review the JCPOA text in several meetings in order to reach an acceptable report.

He did not mention any exact date for presenting the committee's final reprot.

On July 14, Iran and world's six major powers known as the Group 5+1 (the US, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China) concluded their over a decade-long negotiations on Tehrans nuclear activities which led to the signing of the JCPOA.

According to the text of the document, the anti-Iran sanctions will be removed in exchange for some limitations on the countrys nuclear energy program, Iran will be recognized by the United Nations as a nuclear power and will continue its uranium enrichment program.

Iran has repeatedly announced that its nuclear activities aim at peaceful purposes.
