Tehran, Sept. 14, IRNA - Head of Iran's Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Saeid Ohadi said on Sunday that number of Iranian pilgrims who lost their lives in a crane collapse in Mecca, Saudi Arabia has increased to eight from ealier five victims.
'After receiving information about death of three of the missing (Iranian) pilgrims, the
number of victims reached to 8 people,' he told IRNA.
107 pilgrims are said to have lost their lives in the crane fall reportedly caused by storms or negligence in Mecca on Friday with 238 others wounded.
The tragedy occurred when a crane crashed through the ceiling of the Grand Mosque of Mecca, the largest mosque in the world, amid high winds and thunderstorms.
Eight Iranian pilgrims were killed in the crash, and four others are still missing.
32 Iranian pilgrims were also wounded in the incident who are said to be in good health conditions as 25 of them were released from hospital.
