OMV says too early for Iran decision
Austrian company OMV says it is monitoring situation in Iran, but it is too early to draw any final conclusions regarding possible business in the Islamic Republic.

Corporate spokesperson for OMV Robert Lechner told Trend on September 19 that OMV is closely monitoring the situation and the developments in Iran.

"As our CEO, Rainer Seele, said: the country could provide interesting opportunities for OMV. And he has underlined this by attending an Austrian business delegation (of 240 managers) to Iran," said Lechner.

"However, it is too early to draw final conclusions concerning specific investments," he added.

He also said that "OMV is operating an office in Tehran which has never been shut-down, even during political difficult periods".

Austrian President Heinz Fischer arrived in Tehran on September 7, leading a major business delegation to the country to review potential trade relations with the Islamic republic.

Officials from OMV were also on board President Fischers delegation.

Iranian officials said during the visit of the Austrians to Tehran that Iran is preparing to welcome OMVs return to the Iranian oil and gas projects.

Amir-Hossein Zamaniniya, Irans deputy oil minister for international affairs, told reporters that OMV has voiced readiness to double production at Irans ageing oil and gas fields by using advanced enhancement technologies.
