TEHRAN (Tasnim) � Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed the hope for the expansion of relations with South Korea in a message to congratulate the East Asian country on its National Foundation Day.

President Rouhani on Saturday sent a message to his South Korean counterpart, Park Geun-hye, congratulating her and the Korean government and nation on the National Foundation Day.

The Iranian president also hoped for the enhancement of Tehran-Seoul relations in the fields of mutual interest.

South Korea, a developed country in East Asia, celebrates its National Foundation Day (Gaecheonjeol in Korean) on October 3.

It is traditionally known as the date for the founding of the Korean nation more than 4,000 years ago.
