TEHRAN (FNA)- Swiss Ambassador to Tehran Julio Haus vowed that his country will provide safety cushions for the establishment of Iran-Switzerland Joint Chamber of Commerce and expansion of economic ties with Iran.
"There are significant capacities for promotion of ties between the two countries and making more progress depends on turning opportunities into successes," Haus said on Wednesday in a meeting with economic activists from Iranian Western province of Zanjan.
He referred to the endorsed nuclear agreemnt between Tehran and the six world powers and expressed that "Switzerland is a major trade market for Iran and once the nuclear deal is finalized, it will pave the way for expansion of trade between Iran and European countries".
In August, a Swiss economic delegation comprising businessmen, industrialists and banking experts, headed by Switzerland's former ambassador to Iran Livia Leu Agosti, met with Iranian foreign ministry's European affairs director general in Tehran and discussed the latest economic and trade developments between the two countries.
In October 2013, Secretary of State at the Swiss Foreign Ministry Yves Rossier underlined his country's opposition to the western sanctions against Tehran, and expressed the hope that problems and misunderstandings between Iran and the West will be removed.
On the western sanctions against Iran, he said Switzerland has so far resisted against cooperating with the West on sanctions and opposes them.
Rossier expressed hope that existing misunderstandings would clear up and a basic solution would be explored for the problems.
