Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that very suitable conditions are now available for expansion of Tehran-Tokyo relations and former failures should soon be compensated.
Speaking to Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida on Tuesday, President Rouhani said relations between Iran and Japan are very friendly and age-old and 'I hope bilateral relations will be upgraded in light of their leaders' political will to reach a status the two great countries of Iran and Japan deserve as the ties were close and sincere in the past.'
Referring to Western companies' visits to Iran over recent months, President Rouhani said Japan holds positive and favorable position among Iranians' public opinion and this can serve as a very suitable ground for competitive presence and activities of Japanese companies in various sectors.
Rouhani said investment and cooperation in the fields of energy, environment protection, transportation, dam building, science, culture and research are among grounds essential to promotion of mutual cooperation.
The Iranian chief executive said regarding the capacities available and new conditions, new move should be launched in mutual relations and cooperation to benefit both nations and the region.
He said both countries can also make joint investments in various fields, including auto making for the entire region, including Central Asia, the Caucasus and other neighbors.
Rouhani also referred to regional developments, underlining the need for establishment of lasting peace and stability and added, 'I believe problems of other countries should be solved through diplomatic channels, dialogue and consultation.'
Kishida, for his part, said Japan has decided to have all-out cooperation with Iran in the economic field in particular.
He said Tokyo is happy with the nuclear accord between Iran and the G5+1. 'Japan hopes to benefit from the opportunity available to upgrade its cooperation and relations with Iran in all economic, political and cultural domains.'
He added that Iran is in the center of a vast market and Japan hopes to have active presence in the country.
