Telecom giants eye Iranian ICT market

Tehran, Oct 21, IRNA Telecommunications giants in Europe and the US by attending Iran's pavilion at Gitex expressed willingness to enter Iranian ICT market, Director General of international business development for science and technology Ruhollah Estiri said on Wednesday.

Ruhollah Estiri said that so far Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and Jemalto companies had good talks with Iran and they have expressed readiness to enter Iran's ICT market.
He said that the American companies had extensive studies on Iran's ICT market, and are cautiously willing to come to Iran.
Estiri said that in talks with IBM they wanted to cooperate with Iranian accredited universities in the field of ICT.
He said that Vice-presidential office department for science and technology would make the necessary coordination with Iran's universities, including Sharif Industrial University.
He said that Iran is a good market to sell products, but Iranian government required the western industry owners to transfer technology to Iran through joint investment and Iran would be exporter of products to the markets of the region.
Estiri said that in negotiations with Microsoft company, their representative said that Microsoft is currently involved in business with Pakistani companies granting them license for their domestic products, calling for similar business with Iranians.
