Iran's non-oil trade hits 78.2 billion USD in 10 months: minister

hosseiniTEHRAN, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Shamseddin Hosseini said his country's non-oil trade hit 78.2 billion U.S. dollars during the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year starting on March 20, Tehran Times daily reported on Sunday.
Iran exported 34.5 billion U.S.-dollars of non-oil goods and imported 43.7 billion U.S. dollars of non-oil goods during the 10- month period, Hosseini was quoted as saying.

The Iranian minister also said that exports of industrial and mineral goods increased by 30 percent on a year-on-year basis.

Iran continues trading with the world at a brisk pace, even though certain countries are trying to create obstacles to block the Iran's economic progress, said Hosseini.

Hosseini's remarks alluded to the Western sanctions on Iran's financial and energy sectors. The West has accused Iran of secretly developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian nuclear program, a charge Tehran has consistently denied.

According to Tehran Times, Iran exported around 43.7 billion U. S.-dollar worth of non-oil goods and imported about 61.8 billion U. S.-dollar worth of non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, from March 21, 2011 to March 19, 2012.
