TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Thursday felicitated the neighboring Azerbaijan Republic on successfully holding the countrys parliamentary elections.
In a message, Afkham congratulated the nation and government of the brotherly country of Azerbaijan Republic on the successful parliamentary elections they recently held.
She also expressed the hope that once the new parliament is formed, all-out cooperation between Tehran and Baku would be further developed and reinforced.
Loyalists of Azeri President Ilham Aliyev swept the board in the parliamentary election.
Candidates from the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan (New Azerbaijan) Party won the majority of 125 seats in the single-chamber parliament, the Central Election Commission (CEC) head said on Monday.
In the Republic of Azerbaijan, parliament is elected every five years through voting for individual candidates in electoral districts.
