TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian and the visiting Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders on Monday exchanged views on the latest developments in Syria and Yemen.
At the meeting held in Tehran, Amir Abdollahian described terrorism as the �main and common problem� for the region and the Europe, and said that fight against the inauspicious phenomenon should be top on the agenda.

He also underlined that regional problems should be resolved within a political and democratic framework.

The Belgian diplomat, for his part, said �political solution� is the sole mechanism to remove regional problems and noted that the European Union can play a role to that end.

He also urged �participation of all regional and international players� for resolving problems in the region, adding that Iran has a prominent role in this regard.

Syria has been entangled in civil war since March 2011. The ISIL Takfiri group now controls parts of the Arab country, mostly in the east.

In the past four and half years, more than 240,000 people have died in Syria -overwhelmingly civilians- and around 4 million Syrian people are now refugees in other countries. Around 8 million others have been displaced internally.
