TEHRAN, Nov. 18 (MNA) Irans mens wushu artists in sanda form have harvested 3 gold medals in Indonesia World Wushu Championships.
3 golds in the last day of the games enriched the quality of Irans camp, catapulting the squad to 3rd place with 6 golds, 3 silvers, and a single bronze from their modest 6th place before.
On Wednesay afternoon, Irans 3 sanda artists defeated their respective rivals in the final to embrace beautifully colored gold medals. Mohsen Mohammadseifi won Turkish Ali Ave in 70kg category. To reach final, Mohammadseifi had defeated rivals from Jordan, Britain, Vietnam, and Ukraine. In 85kg category, Amir Fazli added a second gold when he won Russian Arslan Bektemirov; he hit an off draw in the first round and defeated British and Ukrainian rivals in the next rounds.
Irans sixth gold was registered by Hamidreza Gholipour. In -90kg category, Gholipour find victory against Belorussian Iliya Virtchina. He also hit an off draw in the first round and had defeated Swedish and Czech Republican rival to rich final. In total, China stood in the first place with 14 golds and single silver. Malaysia followed China in the second place with 7 golds, 3 silvers, and 6 bronzes, and Iran stood in third place. This third place is modest compared to the last edition of games where Iran scored better and stood in second place with 7 golds and 4 bronzes. A total of 35 countries succeeded in receiving at least a medal in the games.
