Tehran, Nov 19, IRNA The recent terrorist events in France and Lebanon proved that Iran and Russia's position on the fight against terrorism was true, First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said on Wednesday.

He made the remarks during a meeting here with visiting Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin.

The attacks in France and Lebanon have, more than ever, proved the seriousness of the threat imposed by terrorism on the entire world, Jahangiri stressed.

Two terrorist blasts occurred in southern Beirut last week claiming 43 lives and injuring 240 others.

The terrorist group of Daesh (also known as the ISIS) claimed responsibility for the blasts.

Meanwhile, in another development, France was rocked by multiple, near simultaneous attacks on entertainment sites across Paris on November 13 that killed at least 129 people and injured 352 others.

Daesh again claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks calling it retribution for French air strikes in Syria.

Jahangiri also referred to good regional relations between Tehran and Moscow in the fight against terrorism, noting that expansion of terrorism and extremism is a danger for the security of all nations.

He added that the recent incidents have indicated that terrorism has turned into an ultra-regional phenomenon fighting against which needs all-out cooperation of the international community.

Referring to the upcoming visit to Iran by the Russian President Vladimir Putin to take part in the 3rd Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit on November 23, Jahangiri described the prospect of Tehran-Moscow ties as bright.

He pointed to the positive role played by Russia during the nuclear talks which led to the signing of a landmark nuclear agreement on July 14 and stressed that Iran is willing to have cordial relations with Russia in the post-sanctions era as it was during the sanction's period.

For his part, the Russian official hoped the two capitals would witness further relations in the future.

Rogozin expressed Moscow readiness to cooperate with Tehran in the field of technological activities, aircraft industry in particular.

He further commented on the regional developments criticizing certain Western states for imposing sanctions on regional countries.
