Iran, Switzerland discuss closer consular ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian Foreign Ministrys Director-General for Consular Affairs Ali Chegini held talks with senior Swiss officials on ways to boost cooperation between the two countries in diverse areas, consular affairs in particular.

In the meeting with a high-ranking Swiss diplomat held in Bern on Friday, Chegeni described bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic and the Central European country as historical and friendly, stressing the need to further increase ties in various areas of science, culture and education.

He further pointed to the vast areas of economic cooperation between Tehran and Bern, particularly after anti-Iran sanctions are lifted, and called for finding ways to facilitate the travels of the two countries businessmen, investors and industrialists.

The Iranian diplomat also highlighted the high potentials of the two countries in the field of tourism, emphasizing the need for accelerating and simplifying the current procedures for issuing visas for tourists of the two countries.

The remarks come against the backdrop of a new wave of interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.

Experts believe that Iran's economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
