TEHRAN, Dec. 5 (Shana) Some 97 foreign companies from 25 countries have confirmed their participation in the Iran Petrochemical Forum (IPF) 2015 to be held on December 13-14 in Tehran, said Vice-President of Irans National Petrochemical Company (NPC) on Saturday.
It shows an increase of 120 percent compared to IPF 2014, Mohammad-Hassan Peyvandi told Shana.
More that 15,00 representatives from domestic and foreign firms including Australia, Azerbaijan, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherland, Russia, and US will take part in the event, he said.
In addition to the foreign firms who are sending above 800 delegates, the official added, some 368 Iranian companies are going to attend at IPF 2015.
The IPF, one of the worlds most prestigious events representing the petrochemical industry, will address the core issues that the industry is facing.
IPF provides an ideal platform where stakeholders and key players in the global petrochemical sector meet to exchange knowledge and discuss the latest advancements and best practices which are capable of shaping the future of the industry, read an announcement on NPC website.
Coming on the heels of Irans nuclear agreement, NPC said, it is going to use the event to unveil its post-sanctions projects and plans for further expanding the Iranian petrochemical output capacity from its current 60 million t/y to over 138 million t/y in 2020 and eventually to 180 million t/y by 2025 with an investment of over $80 bn.
NPC also seeks to use Irans natural gas reserves as raw material to produce propylene and propylene derivatives to provide feed for the expansion of local downstream industries, it said.
