Tehran, Jan 4, IRNA Cutting ties with Iran is detriment to Riyadh not to Tehran, First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said here Monday.
At a local ceremony this morning, Jahangiri advised Saudi Arabia to avoid further sabotage.
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir announced on Sunday that Riyadh severed its diplomatic relations with Tehran one day after the government and people of Iran protested to execution of the prominent cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.
He told reporters in Saudi capital that Iranian diplomats were asked to leave the country within 48 hours.
Saudi Arabia on Saturday executed Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, a Shia Muslim cleric known for his sermons criticizing the kingdoms government and for his support of political protests in the countrys oil-rich Eastern Province.
The Saudi Interior Ministry on Saturday said 47 people have been executed on charges of what it referred to as terrorism.
Prominent Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr was among those executed.
