A suicide bomber, who carried out a terror attack in Istanbul, arrived in Turkey under the guise of a refugee, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Wednesday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) On Tuesday, an explosion occurred inIstanbuls historical center inthe citys central square. At least 10 German nationals were killed, while 17 people were injured duringthe accident.
"This man [suicide bomber] wasnt underthe supervision and suspicion ofpolice. He arrived inTurkey asa refugee. After this attack, all his connections are being investigated," Davutoglu stated ata briefing inIstanbul, aired bythe CNN Turk.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the assault was perpetrated bya Syrian suicide bomber.
Meanwhile, Turkish media, citing a source inthe police reported the attacker had Saudi citizenship and was trying toget a political asylum inTurkey.
A total offive individuals were arrested inconnection witha suicide bombing inthe Turkish largest city, according tothe countrys authorities.
