Rouhani: IAEA supervision side by side with its contributions
Tehran, Jan 18, IRNA Iran has always honored its international commitments and will always do so in future and IAEA, too, should side by side with its supervision duties heed its duty to contribute to development of Iran's peaceful nuclear program, said IRI president here Monday.


'The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should side by side with its verification and supervision duties over our activities heed its other duties and legal responsibilities, especially in the field of transferring the modern technology for peaceful nuclear technology and its security measures, dealing with all IAEA member states equally,' said President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with IAEA Chief Yukiya Amano.

Rouhani in his Monday evening meeting with Amano considered the resolving of the Iranian nuclear stand-still with the West as an important sample of successful diplomacy in contemporary history.

'The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its cooperation with the IAEA and we will keep on performing our commitments so long as the other side, too, will remain committed to its accepted responsibilities,' he added.

Yukiya Amano, too, said in the meeting that the signing of the JCPOA was a great political development, congratulated its successful implementation to President Rouhani and the Iranian nation, and said that the agency and he himself are committed to adopt a legal, unbiased, and non-political approach till the end of implementing the JCPOA.

'We are also very eager to expand our cooperation with Tehran aimed at evermore expansion of trust building,' he added.
Amano also said that he is fully agreed with President Rouhani on the need for impartial approach of the IAEA in dealing with various member states of the agency.

'The IAEA has responsibilities for transfer of modern nuclear technology from the advanced countries to the developing countries, and our commitments are not restricted to safeguarding the world peace,' he said.

Amano stressed that in the newly emerged atmosphere we can broadly cooperate with each other in this field, as well,' he added.
